Part time teacher in my 70's, semi-retired, shy and self-deprecating, married with a large family. My work and family take up a lot of my time.

I enjoy the company of women, and I envy them their female friendships. I have been a closet CD for a long time, and have several distant CD/Trans friends met via the Internet. My wife tries to understand, and she plans regular times for me to dress in an empty house. In June 2023, I had a wonderful 2 days holiday en femme with another tvChick. I am looking forward to another holiday in 2024. My opportunities to be out are very rare.

I believe that I have mild PTSD as a result of experiences in the workplace. I have experienced some gender dysphoria over the past 10 years. The pandemic disrupted our work and our friendships. It caused me to begin to question my gender identity, and the expectations and limitations that I have accepted for too long. I am looking for integrity and authenticity. Life is too short and too good to waste it. Many people look back on their lives with regret for the things they did not do rather than for the things they did.

I am size 14, 38 B/C, tall with a large frame, grey hair, balding with spectacles. Quite ordinary really!

I am quiet and thoughtful, and enjoy reading books with interesting characters - e.g. authors Elizabeth George, Ann Cleeves, Lucy Dillon, Marian Keyes, Maeve Binchy, Cathy Kelly, Lucy Diamond, Jojo Moyes, Jane Austen - as well as books on Christian spirituality - e.g. authors Anne Lamott, Barbara Brown Taylor, Sharon Garlough Brown, Henri Nouwen. I love walking in beautiful countryside, swimming, spending time with friends, cooking and entertaining. My music tastes are Billy Joel, Leonard Cohen and musicals especially those by Stephen Sondheim.

As well as more serious books, I enjoy chick lit books about female friendship and empowerment. I am loving "The Summer that Changed Us" by Cathy Bramley. "Other Women" by Cathy Kelly is a wonderful roller coaster read with a satisfactory ending on the last page.

“Mothers and Daughters” by Erica James is a very good read, almost universally praised by critics and readers. It’s a good story, populated by people who are recognisable stereotypes who nonetheless ring true to life. We inevitably compare ourselves with stereotypes, checking whether we measure up, whether we are good enough. And we can spot their weaknesses and self-deceptions, and wonder whether those are something that we share. In a story, people are often not so self-conscious; but as we read the story, there may be aspects that trouble us, and make us go back over our memories, searching for evidence of those weaknesses that are so obvious when we read about them. People think and behave the ways they do mainly because their experiences have made them that way. This book has opened my eyes to relationship difficulties made worse by lack of understanding and self-knowledge. Spoiler alert: I wonder how many pages you will turn before you start to recognise domestic abuse, coercive control, misplaced loyalty, false guilt and shame.

Although shy, I enjoy getting to know people and listening to their stories. My greatest weakness is loyalty. I try to listen carefully and with empathy (i.e. a respectful understanding of what others are feeling). I try to imagine walking a mile in their shoes, and often find that I have admiration for the burden they carry and the courage they show.

I would like to meet local people for interesting chats about life, the universe and everything. Regrettably, because of time available to me, I can only travel 20 miles for a meeting. That is a circle enclosing Reading, Camberley, Guildford and Basingstoke. Yes, I know ...
